Episodes 010-014 — Being found
Change it once, not 1,600 times
A policy that lives in every listing separately is not really one policy. It is however many copies of it you remembered to keep in sync.
A courier raises shipping rates with a week’s notice. Nothing unusual about that in 2026 — rates
moved more than once this year. The shipping cost from that rate card is written into sixteen hundred
listings. Updating the twenty best sellers and leaving the rest is the realistic option under time
pressure, which is how a seller ends up, six months later, running three different shipping policies at
once, two of them quietly losing money, with no simple way to tell which listing is charging which rate.
Nothing about the original information was wrong. It just never reached everywhere it needed to.
A better front end on eBay’s own capability
eBay already lets policies propagate — that part is not a Frooition invention. What is missing for
most sellers is a usable way to manage it without logging into eBay Seller Hub and working through
Fulfilment, Payment and Returns policies one at a time. eBay Business Policies, managed from inside
Frooition, is that front end: edit a policy once, and every listing using it updates itself the moment the
change is made. The propagation is eBay’s; the bulk usability is what Frooition adds.
That is what makes a short-notice change survivable. The response to a courier’s week’s notice becomes
one profile edit, not a triage exercise across a catalogue.
Where Auto Apply actually fits
It is worth being precise about a tool that gets confused with this one. Auto Apply is a separate
capability, and it is about design only — automatically applying your Frooition template to new or
matching listings. It is not a shipping, returns or payment tool, and it is only available once a custom
design has been purchased; it shows greyed out otherwise. If a listing needs its design applied
automatically and its policies kept in sync, those are two different tools doing two different jobs, not
one bundled feature.
What we are not claiming
We are not claiming Frooition invented policy propagation — eBay’s business policies already work
this way natively; the value here is bulk visibility and a usable interface on top of it. And we are not
describing Auto Apply as part of this feature; conflating the two is exactly the mistake this piece is
correcting.
Disclosure
I own the companies behind the tools named here, so weigh that accordingly. The problem is real whether or not you use them.
