Where does your template actually live

A template you cannot reach once the tool holding it disappears was never really under your control to begin with.

Every listing carries a template — the layout, the branding, the visual grammar a returning buyer
recognises before they have read a word of the description. Most sellers never ask where that template
actually lives, because it is invisible right up until the moment it matters: when the tool holding it
shuts down, changes hands, or simply stops being maintained.

The lesson that is no longer theoretical

inkFrog sellers found this out directly in 2026. Wix announced the shutdown by email on 29 April; CSV
export ran until 31 May; the servers went dark on 1 June. The CSV that sellers were given carried listing
content — it did not carry templates, master profiles, bulk revision rules, or saved drafts. Those
were gone, permanently, for anyone who had not separately backed them up. Sellers who had been unhappy with
the platform since a 2020 acquisition had stayed anyway, because their workflows were built into it. The
switching cost was the thing holding them there, right up until it became the thing that hurt them.

What Listing Designs actually is

Listing Designs — the current name for what used to be labelled the Design Library inside the
product, same feature — applies a professional template to your live listings, either from a
ready-made set or a paid custom design. It lives inside your Frooition account rather than a single-purpose
plugin bolted onto a store. That does not make Frooition immune to ever changing; nothing is. It does mean
a template here is not tied to the survival of a narrow, single-function tool the way a plugin-based one
can be.

Next to it: Bulk Revision

Once a template is the one actually worth keeping, applying or refreshing it across a live catalogue
does not have to mean listing by listing — Bulk Revision’s design group covers exactly that, in one
action across thousands of listings.

What we are not claiming

We are not claiming a specific template count — “600+” appears on the site but has
not been independently confirmed, so it stays unstated here rather than repeated as fact. And we are not
claiming immunity from the same kind of disruption that hit inkFrog sellers; the claim is narrower —
that a template kept inside a broader account, rather than a single-purpose plugin, travels better.

Disclosure

I own the companies behind the tools named here, so weigh that accordingly. The problem is real whether or not you use them.
